Capturing History: A Photo Exhibition Honors Puerto Vallarta’s Lighthouses
Lighthouses of Puerto Vallarta were the focus of Moises Hernandez (@moihmx), a historical and documentary researcher.
He recently shared his work on the curation of the seven-photo collection exhibited during the celebration of the 92nd anniversary of Puerto Vallarta’s range lights or lighthouses.
The event took place at the newly restored Matamoros Lighthouse, rescued thanks to the efforts of the @rmptodo art collective.
During the exhibition, they honored these concrete giants that have illuminated the path to Puerto Vallarta’s future since the early 20th century. They also celebrate the collective’s dedication to preserving these significant spaces and turning them into venues for cultural events, such as the wonderful concert that capped off this special day.
The Faro Matamoros, which had been abandoned and practically destroyed, was rescued thanks to the efforts of Colectivo Rompe, led by Sharo García, and local authorities. The site, previously used as a public restroom and filled with trash, had lost its public lighting due to vandalism. However, through a joint effort, this emblematic space, which offers an impressive view of the city, was restored.
Congratulations to all those involved! #puertovallarta #visitmexico #visitpuertovallarta #mexicomagico
