On Wednesday, February 21st, the city will play host to a pair of extraordinary events that promise to not only dazzle attendees but also support a noble cause—the newly established Vallarta Gay+ Community Center.
Hosted by esteemed advocates David Smith and Matt Karimi, these events epitomize the spirit of unity, compassion, and generosity that defines the LGBTQ+ community in Puerto Vallarta and beyond.
“We are thrilled to open our hearts and our home to support the Vallarta Gay+ Community Center,” shares David Smith, one of the hosts of the evening. “Our goal is to create an unforgettable experience for our guests while raising essential funds to ensure the success and sustainability of this vital resource.”
The Vallarta Gay+ Community Center is a new initiative headed by local business leaders, and includes a new health clinic that distributes PrEP. The goal is to eventually have services available that were provided by SETAC, since that clinic has ceased operations since employees stopped being paid and donations dried up.
The evening’s festivities kick off with an exclusive VIP pre-reception from 5 to 6 PM at Suite 501 in the prestigious OASIS condominium. Donors who contribute a minimum of $1,000 USD or $17,000 pesos will have the opportunity to mingle with fellow supporters, board members, physicians, the evening’s entertainers Branden and James, and enjoy delectable hors d’oeuvres by Chef Wayne Elias from Daiquiri Dick’s.
“This VIP pre-party is a testament to the generosity and commitment of our major donors,” remarks Matt Karimi, co-host of the event. “Their contributions provide the foundation upon which the Vallarta Gay+ Community Center can thrive and continue its invaluable work within the LGBTQ+ community.”
Following the VIP pre-reception, the festivities will continue downstairs in the lobby at OASIS, where guests will be treated to a delightful cocktail reception and concert featuring the world-renowned cello and vocal duo, Branden & James. With their mesmerizing performances, Branden & James promise to captivate audiences and set the stage for an unforgettable evening of celebration and solidarity. Guests are asked for a $600 pesos suggested donation for this event.
Whether you choose to donate at the $1,000 USD (or 17,000 pesos) level for the VIP reception, or only attend the cocktail reception and concert for 600 pesos, the evening will be enjoyable for all.

Throughout the evening, guests will have the opportunity to participate in a silent auction and enjoy a cash bar, with proceeds directly benefiting the Vallarta Gay+ Community Center. Additionally, board members and physicians will be on hand to provide information on the center’s programs and services, further highlighting its importance within the community.
