Will Operate from ThrIVe IV & MedSpa On A Temporary Basis
A new non-profit PrEP clinic will open to fill the void left with the recent closure of SETAC, with some former SETAC financial supporters and leaders taking the helm to help lead the new not yet named non-profit.
While the new organization is still in planning stages, due to the urgent nature to continue to provide PrEP services, a temporary space has been donated inside ThrIVe IV & MedSpa on Basilio Badillo 277-A, in Zona Romantica (Col Emiliano Zapata) so that doctors can meet with patients and continue their PrEP treatment.
Former SETAC patients can use one of the following methods to follow up on an appointment, or for new patients to make an appointment. An exact date was not given on when those appointments would start, except that it would be “next week” (or the week of Jan. 8, 2024).
“If you were previously enrolled in the SETAC program you can use the following WhatsApp number 322 128 67 93 and our contact form http://surl.li/oytjp to follow up with your appointments,” explained Jet De La Isla, Jet’s Adventures + FB’s Largest PV Gay Group, Communications Director for the new organization, in a press release.
He said new enrollees can also use the contact form to be signed up for new registrations. Current patients will be asked for a $300 MXN monthly optional donation, as it was with the previous program.
Those involved with the new non-profit include:

- Dr. Alain Hernández, Medical Advisor
- Dr. Galileo Vargas, Medical Advisor

“A group of business leaders, with the support of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, (a major donor to SETAC), have formed a committee to continue the distribution of PrEP medicine with a fast, accessible and transparent community based approach,” said Jet De La Isla in the press release.
De La Isla said the interim organizing committee and manager “will spend the next several months taking input from the community regarding the needs and offers of support.”
He said all community members are invited to be part of the process.
“We will keep everyone updated about additional details when we have more confirmed information. You can use the form link above as well to sign up to volunteer, donate or stay informed,” he said.
If you want to help with financial support, you can make a donation to https://casajojofoundation.org/ to help with immediate funds.
“For US donors Casa JoJo is a 501(c)3 deduction,” De La Isla explained. “When donating please mention “Vallarta’s Gay+ Health Clinic ”. You can donate using the One Time donate button found at the bottom of their website landing page. We want to thank the Casa JoJo Foundation for their support while we establish our own legal entity for donations. We would also like to thank the community of Puerto Vallarta and beyond that have stepped up to support our gay+ community during this health emergency.”
