Yates Wows Audience With English/Spanish Rendition of ‘Sway’ and Named Round 2 Winner of SYTYCR

Steve Yates won round two of Jan. 15’s So You Think You Can Rise (SYTYCR) competition and will advance to the finals to be held at Teatro Vallarta on February 26, 2023.

Steve and his husband of 13 years, John, are from the San Francisco Bay Area, and have been full-time residents of Puerto Vallarta for almost two years.  Before retiring, Steve had a career in sales and marketing. Steve sang two songs during the performance – “Sway” which he sang in English and Spanish and “Last Dance” which he did in English.

Lady Zen hosted round 2, with Enoch as co-host. Derek Carkner, Diego Guerrero and Tonny Kenneth served as judges. Chris Lopez was contestant coach for round 2.

Get your tickets to the next Preliminary Show Sunday January 22nd and the Grand Finale here. Buy your tickets early, as the first two shows have been sold out.  Round 3 (Jan 22nd) round 4 (Jan 29th) and round 5 (Feb 5th) will be held at 3 p.m. at The Palm Cabaret and Bar.
