What A Drag, the iconic fundraiser for the Casa Esperanza shelter for women victims of domestic violence, will celebrate its 12th edition on Sunday, March 8, 2026, at 8 p.m. at Teatro Vallarta. The event notably coincides with International Women’s Day.
The competition features straight men venturing into drag for the first time. Each contestant presents a show sponsored by local businesses and supported by a “Fairy Drag Mother” and a professional makeup artist. This year, the event will be hosted by local singer Amy Armstrong, featuring eight contestants ready to bring high energy and fun to the Teatro Vallarta stage.

What A Drag 2026 will also feature performances by international drag artist Ada Vox, known for her appearances on American Idol and Queen of the Universe. Joining her is local drag queen Fernandrag, renowned for her operatic talents on Puerto Vallarta’s premier LGBTQ+ stages. Other performances include Guadalajara-born producer and singer Armando Chakám and singer-songwriter Tonny Kenneth.
Supporting a Vital Cause
All proceeds from the event are donated to the Casa Esperanza women’s shelter, operated by the Vida Reavivida A.C. foundation. Since December 2014, the shelter has provided a safe home for local women and children escaping violence. According to organizers, the 2025 edition of What A Drag funded more than half of the shelter’s annual operating budget.
Event Details & Tickets
The event will be held at Teatro Vallarta (Uruguay 184, Colonia 5 de Diciembre). Tickets are available via Eventsproud until noon on Saturday, March 7. On the day of the event, Sunday, March 8, tickets will be sold at the theater box office from 6 to 8 p.m. (cash only). Donation tiers are available at $2,250, $1,850, $1,150, and $900 MXN.
