Flirtatious, seductive, playful … these are the words that come to mind when describing the ambiance of Spartacus Boutique Hostel for Men. On November 15, 2024, Puerto Vallarta welcomed a vibrant new addition to its hospitality scene. Nestled on the lively Calles Pilitas and Amapas, this adult-only facility is set to redefine the concept of hostelling for the LGBTQI+ community.
The hostel emerges in a space that once housed short-lived establishments, including the Que Bola Cuban restaurant and the Papi Chulo spa. However, Spartacus Boutique Hostel for Men pays homage to its predecessors, maintaining elements such as the murals of old Havana that adorn the café and bar area, and the intimate, dimly lit hallways that evoke the nostalgia of the old spa.
The entrance, once past the stairs leading to a seated dining area and a bar, leads to a front desk where a friendly staff greets you and presents you with a bracelet with a built-in fob to access the room.
The rooms, both to the right and to the left of the front desk boast bunk beds comfortable enough to climb on to sleep … or frolic—a nod to the hostel’s playful spirit. Each room includes individual lockers, ensuring guests can securely store their belongings.
Down the hallway, past additional rooms, are shower stalls that can accommodate up to five individuals. Just through the stalls is a small sauna for soaking in some heat.
The interior walls are decorated with homoerotic art of male figures pressed against each other just so—you know—there’s no doubt in some wanderer’s mind, mistakenly taking this place for anything other than an LGBTQI+ adult-only facility.
For those looking to take in the scenery, a short flight of stairs leads up to a terrace that provides views of the surrounding area. It’s the perfect spot to relax with a drink, share stories, and make new friends under the warm Mexican sun.
With 43 beds, all designed for comfort and rooms that will accommodate four, six, eight, or twelve guests, Spartacus Boutique Hostel offers flexibility for both individuals and groups.
Currently, beds are available at an introductory rate of $750 pesos per night, which includes an American continental breakfast and an enticing 50% discount at the Spa Spartacus.
Spartacus Boutique Hostel for Men promises to be more than just a place to stay; it’s a community hub where like-minded travelers can connect, celebrate their identities, and enjoy a fulfilling Puerto Vallarta experience.
As the doors open to this new chapter in LGBTQI+ hospitality, this hostel is poised to become a must-visit destination in Puerto Vallarta, attracting guests from around the world to experience its charm and camaraderie.
