Queer identity, Mexican culture and contemporary artistic expression will take center stage during Vallarta Pride 2026 at Art VallARTa, Pilitas 213, Zona Romántica, Amapas, 48333 , where a new exhibition titled “Galeria Artística Yacimiento” will showcase works from a diverse group of established and emerging artists through June 13.
The exhibition features work by Félix d’Eon, Alejandro Barreto, Francisco Huéyatl León, Armando Mafud, Lalo Cortés, Lourdes Loera, Sheila Cohen, J. Moro, Nigel Gevisser, Dale Johnson and Douglas Simonson, while also serving as the centerpiece for a week of artist talks, workshops, screenings and community events tied to Pride celebrations in Puerto Vallarta.
The weeklong series of events blends visual arts, workshops, performance, film and social gatherings timed to coincide with Vallarta Pride festivities across the city.
“This exhibition was created as a space where queer identity, creativity and community can come together in many different forms,” said Christian Yussel, coordinator of the program at Art VallARTa. “We wanted visitors and local residents to experience not only the artwork on the walls, but also conversations, workshops and activities that celebrate diversity and artistic expression.”

Programming begins May 14-16 with “LUBOK MEXICANO,” a printmaking workshop led by Barreto.
The official opening of the G.A.Y. Gallery Exhibition is scheduled for 4 p.m. Monday, May 18, followed by a guided tour with Barreto, a screening of the documentary “LUBOK MEXICANO,” and an artist talk. The evening concludes with “Drink & Tattoo in the Speakeasy,” where attendees can receive original temporary tattoos created by the artist.
Tuesday’s activities focus on painting and figure drawing, including watercolor and acrylic workshops with Lourdes Loera, as well as an illustrated artist talk and guided tour led by Francisco Huéyatl León. The evening concludes with a “Drink & Draw” session featuring a live model.
On Wednesday, artist Félix d’Eon will lead a guided tour and artist conversation before hosting “Queer Lotería in the Speakeasy,” a reimagined version of the traditional Mexican game featuring LGBTQ+ themes.
Events continue Thursday with body painting sessions ahead of the Vallarta Pride parade and a “Prosecco and Pottery” workshop with ceramic artist Kebby McInroy.
The week wraps up Friday, May 22, with the “Señoritas Mixer,” an evening centered on women in the LGBTQ+ community. The event will feature a solo cello performance by Gabriela Lopez, Latin music by Stella Rosas, burlesque performances, belly dance accompanied by live violin, raffles, silent auctions and LGBTQ+-themed body painting.
Organizers said the mixer was created primarily as a welcoming space for women in the LGBTQ+ community, while also inviting allies and supporters to attend.
