Puerto Vallarta had a strong showing at IBTM Américas 2026, one of the most important meetings-industry gatherings in Latin America, where the destination met with more than 200 meeting planners seeking venues for congresses, conventions and incentive trips.
As part of the Jalisco Secretariat of Tourism’s delegation, the Puerto Vallarta Tourism Board presented event organizers with the destination’s broad offerings for the MICE segment — meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions — highlighting its hotel and event infrastructure, its range of experiences and specialized services, and its air and ground connectivity.

During the business meetings, officials emphasized the newly completed shortcut highway between Guadalajara and Puerto Vallarta, which has brought the destination closer to more cities. Organizers said that has translated into higher attendance at congresses and conventions and has become a deciding factor in choosing the destination for events.
Ahead of IBTM Américas, Puerto Vallarta representatives took part in the first Retreat Essence LATAM, a gathering focused on advancing the growth and leadership of women in the tourism industry that brought together 80 leading executives from meetings and events companies across Latin America.
Also during IBTM Américas 2026, the destination held a meeting with 100 invited buyers from Canada, the United States, Mexico and Latin America, organized in partnership with SITE Mexico. Officials presented the destination’s strengths for organizing incentive trips and invited buyers to the third edition of PV Meetings, a specialized gathering for meeting planners scheduled for May 5-8, 2027.
Puerto Vallarta also had a presence at SITE Night, a networking event that drew 300 event organizers. As part of its participation, the destination gave attendees a taste of Jalisco culture with mariachi music and a tasting of raicilla, a traditional agave spirit from the region.

Puerto Vallarta’s delegation at IBTM Américas 2026 included broad representation from the private sector and organizations tied to the meetings industry. The destination was joined by hotels Casa Velas, Crown Paradise Club, Crown Paradise Golden, Dreams Vallarta Bay, Fiesta Americana, Friendly Fun, Grand Miramar, Hyatt Ziva, Mio, Marriott Puerto Vallarta, Meliá, Pier, Secrets, Sheraton Buganvilias, The Westin and Velas Vallarta; destination management companies Tropical Incentives, Maritur, North American Travel (NAT), PV Transfer, Terramar and Vallarta Traveler Advisors (VTA); tour operator Vallarta Adventures; and representatives of the Puerto Vallarta International Convention Center and the Puerto Vallarta city government.
Through its participation, Puerto Vallarta is strengthening its promotion in the meetings segment, generating new business opportunities and solidifying its position as one of Mexico’s leading options for congresses, conventions, incentive trips, expos, product launches, team-building events, concerts and more.
That strong positioning and versatility have made the destination a sought-after host for a wide range of events, including medical congresses such as the International Endodontics Seminar and the 2026 National Mastology Congress, trade shows such as Exphotel, and corporate events including the annual conventions of major companies such as Century 21 and Herbalife.
The destination will soon host major sporting events, including the 2026 PGA Tour Mexico Open and the 2027 Copbrands international cheerleading tournament, along with concerts by pop star Robbie Williams and the HEAT Awards, honoring the best in Latin American music — events that boost the visitor experience and generate brand exposure, visitor traffic, hotel occupancy and economic impact for the destination.
