The Catrina that earned a spot in the Guinesses World Book of Records as the World’s Tallest Catrina will return to the Puerto Vallarta Boardwalk in 2024, setting the stage for Puerto Vallarta’s annual “Day of the Dead” festival.
The 75.5 foot high catrina will be placed on the Malecon Boardwalk along with altars, and more.
The Catrina is an icon that personifies death and is adopted throughout Mexico as a symbol of the Day of the Dead.
“We are going to activate the theme of the festival, we are already defining, we are going to activate it from the Pier of Los Muertos to the Malecón, on the part of the Lighthouse we are going to work with the Tourism Trust, with an interesting, new situation, that we are going to add to this festive project,” new Mayor Luis Ernesto Munguía Gonzále told local publication Tribuna de la Bahia.
