The Puerto Vallarta Civil Protection and Fire Department has launched its annual fundraising calendar, aiming to raise money for essential equipment to enhance firefighter safety.
At a press conference, Civil Protection and Firefighters Director Misael López Muro announced that 1,000 copies of the calendar are now available for purchase at a price of 500 pesos each. The initiative, driven by members of the department, marks a first-time experience for some participants and the department hopes to raise up to $500,000 pesos.
The calendar features firefighters in action, photographed in natural settings across the city and at the department’s central station. The images highlight the dedication and hard work of the department’s personnel while also serving as a promotional effort to showcase their commitment to protecting the community.
It took more than three weeks to photograph the participants, with more than 3,000 photos taken by photographer César Casillas, who directed and coordinated this project.
Proceeds from the sales will go toward purchasing essential firefighting gear, including boots, belts, and other equipment necessary for their daily operations.
Beyond raising funds, the project also aims to increase public awareness of the department’s work and the risks its members face.
Supporters can purchase the calendars at the Civil Protection and Fire Department offices on the second floor of the UMA building, at the central fire station in the Lázaro Cárdenas neighborhood, and at select retail locations throughout the city.
The department hopes that community support for the calendar will contribute to improving safety conditions for its firefighters while recognizing their ongoing service and dedication.
