Alfonso “Poncho” Davalos has traded in his role as a top-producing agent to become the driving force behind his own real estate firm in Puerto Vallarta. With a decade of experience in the industry and a loyal clientele, Davalos is excited to embark on this new chapter, offering personalized service and expert guidance to buyers and sellers alike.
His new firm, Poncho Davalos Real Estate, opened in the summer of 2024. He’s excited to be building his own business.
Poncho’s journey to becoming a real estate powerhouse began far from the sandy shores of the Pacific Coast.
Hailing from Monterrey, Mexico, Davalos’ path to Puerto Vallarta was anything but ordinary. After a stint in the restaurant industry, he found himself drawn to the vibrant energy and stunning beauty of the coastal city.
“Moving here was a fantastic challenge,” he says. “But after losing my job and with the swine flu outbreak, going back to Monterrey never crossed my mind.”
It was a chance encounter that ignited Davalos’ passion for real estate.
“A friend from Denver who was living here decided to move back to the States,” Davalos recalls. “She got an offer from a Vacation Rental company but didn’t want to return to PV, so she passed the opportunity to me. That lead kickstarted my real estate career, and I’ve never looked back.”
Over the years, Davalos honed his skills, learning from industry veterans like Wayne Franklin.
“I’ve been in PV since 2007,” he shares. “The city has transformed immensely. The Malecón is vibrant, and there are new buildings and restaurants everywhere. It’s been exciting to be a part of that growth.”
His dedication and talent led him to a management position at The Agency Vallarta. However, after the loss of his mother, he realized it was time to pursue his own entrepreneurial dreams.
“After my mom passed away last year, I realized life is too short,” Davalos says. “Having been in real estate for over a decade, learning from mentors like Wayne Franklin, and managing The Agency Vallarta, I knew it was time to take the next step. I wanted to continue serving my clients with the same passion and expertise, but on my own terms.” Thus, his real estate firm was born.
What sets Davalos apart is his genuine love for Puerto Vallarta, and sharing that love with future clients.
“The biggest surprise for people buying a home or condo here is the breathtaking mountains,” he exclaims. “Many people are also amazed by the sense of community and safety. They often say we live in paradise.”
Beyond real estate, Davalos is a colorful character. He’s an avid fitness enthusiast, a dog lover, and he’s even appeared on a TV show, Mexico Life.
“I love pizza from Los Muertos, especially the La Patrona, and enjoy Chachalaca beer,” he shares. “I have two rescue dogs, Champ and Cleo. I’m passionate about working out, Pilates, CrossFit, and lifting weights at Big Apple. And yes, I auditioned for La Academia ten times!”
“I love helping dogs as much as I can,” he says, explaining his involvement with A Dog’s New Life. “I promote a dog weekly on my social media, encouraging people to adopt.”
Davalos’ journey from Monterrey to Puerto Vallarta show’s his resilience and determination.
“Monterrey is an industrial city, one of Mexico’s largest,” he explains. “It’s full of traffic and pollution but has beautiful mountains. Living in PV is a blessing—I get to enjoy the beach whenever I want. The lifestyle here is more relaxed; businesses start later,and the overall vibe is more laid-back compared to Monterrey’s hustle and bustle.”
His passion for real estate is evident in every interaction, and his love for the city is contagious. As he embarks on this new chapter as a business owner, one thing is certain: Poncho Davalos is a force to be reckoned with in the Puerto Vallarta real estate market.
