Navigating your first electric bill (CFE) in Puerto Vallarta can be a bit overwhelming. Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. This guide will walk you through the process, from understanding your bill to finding the most convenient payment method. Whether you’re tech-savvy or prefer traditional options, we’ll help you find the perfect solution.
Upon setting up your contract and receiving your service number, it’s crucial to download the CFE Contigo app (apple store here, or google play store here). This app, while in Spanish, is an essential tool for managing your electric bills. If you’re not fluent in Spanish, don’t worry. The team at ServiCambio PV or your property manager can assist you in navigating the app and filling out the necessary information.
Receiving and Paying Your Bill
You will receive your bill via email. You can pay using a Mexican debit or credit card. One of my clients tried using their card from the States, but the system didn’t recognize it.
If you’re wondering how to pay if you don’t have a property manager, Intercam is a great solution. This bank has four branches in the area and can issue a debit card for purchases and bill payments. You can transfer your USD or CAD to your account and get a competitive exchange rate.
Alternative Payment Options
For those on the move or preferring flexible payment options, consider using the CFE ATMs located in the Five de Diciembre or Pitillal areas. These ATMs are open 24/7, allowing you to pay your bill in advance if you won’t be in town or use your credit card directly for immediate payment.
If Oxxo is more convenient, you can bring your original bill or a printed copy, pay three days before it is due, and keep your receipt.
