New blue alerta poles are popping up across Puerto Vallarta, which have a simple call button to connect the caller directly to the city’s command and control center.
Some 120 of the alerta poles have been placed across the city, which allow any emergency to be instantly reported – fires, crimes, accidents, or medical emergencies. This direct communication channel will enable a faster response time and improve overall safety.
The blue alerta poles were initiated by the previous mayor’s administration, but just in the past month or so have they been busy installing them. The poles are equipped with audio and video, and some of the poles have rotating cameras.
Funding for the system was provided by FORTUNUN resources.
In addition to the blue alert poles, the city has also implemented other security measures, including surveillance cameras and increased police presence in high-risk areas.
