A GoGo Boy competition was held at Casa Cupula, with Luis Oscar Gomez (Oscar) winning first prize, and receiving $15,000 pesos. The three-day competition was organized and produced by Lalo Gil and had more than 13 people participate.
Participants were faced with different challenges including a wet t-shirt contest, runway, best dance and more. Gil said this was the first edition and more competitions to come.
Oscar has lived in Puerto Vallarta for three years and is originally from Guadalajara Jalisco. He is currently working as a GoGo dancer and a personal trainer.
“I have always liked to dance,” he said. “It comes naturally to me. I feel like I’ve always known how to dance.”
He said the competition was interesting and forced him to learn more about himself and his abilities.
“It was a new experience for me, even though I have been dancing for several years, I had never competed with other people,” he said. “I really liked being able to learn more about myself and know that I can offer much more than I thought. It was incredible to meet more people who are dedicated and enjoy doing the same thing as me.
I honestly didn’t expect to win because there was a lot of competition, but in the end I think that my perseverance and the pleasure and love that I put into everything, led me to victory in my first competition as a go-go dancer.”
