Keeping Music Alive – a progressive musical adventure – was an event that came to life on August 29, 2024 and was a collaborative effort lead by Georgia Darehshori, the owner of Casa Karma (a villa and live entertainment venue).

Keeping Music Alive received support from the Spanish Learning Tree, PrintPV, Act2PV, and La Catrina Cantina.

Performers at La Catrina included favorites like Kevin Anthony, Diego Guerrero, Sargento, Luis Villanueva, and Tonny Kenneth.

Around 8:30 p.m. the progressive musical adventure left La Catrina Cantina and then made its way to Mary Ann’s Ovations Piano Bar at Act2PV, lead by Tromba Vetusta‘s accordion player, Dabit Azofeifa. It was Open Mic Night, which included performances by Stephanie Wright Watts, Enoch and Dash, Will Walker, Ale Matus, Freddy Othelo, and so many more. The new general manager of ACT2PV, David Sabella, gave a performance from his role as Chicago’s Mary Sunshine.

“Keeping Music Alive was a win-win night. Everyone will help everyone,” Georgia told OAPV while marching down the sidewalk.

And a win it was, with venues having capacity crowds enjoying the live music.

To commemorate the night, cake (three cakes) was served at Mary Ann’s Ovations Piano Bar. The inscription on the cakes,”Let the ‘live’ music play on and on,” perfectly encapsulated the spirit of the event for a thriving music community in Puerto Vallarta.
