More than 1,000 vaccines were recently administered to some 650 people during a vaccination event held at Hotel Mercurio.
The event took place on Friday, January 12, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. It was organized and conducted by the ISSTE ( Instituto de Seguridad y Servicios Sociales de los Trabajadores del Estado) and is a joint project with Colectivo LGBT and Impulso GDL (which is a GDL HIV / AIDS organization).
The event provided a second round of free vaccination against HPV, Tetanus and Hepatitis B. It was a follow up event to one that was held on Friday, Oct. 27, 2023 at Hotel Mercurio.
“It was quite amazing,” said Paul Crist, owner of Hotel Mercurio. “Thank you to the Community Health Teams (ECOS) program for the Welfare of the Institute of Security and Social Services of State Workers (ISSSTE), as well as Impulse Guadalajara and Puerto Vallarta, Chixs Salud Para Todxs, and others. It was so well organized.”
In addition to the HPV vaccines, the influenza vaccine, as well as HIV testing, were done.
In an interview with Tribuna newspaper, Dr. Chema Torres, president of Impulse Guadalajara and Puerto Vallarta, highlighted the importance of having days like this.
