State tourism officials announced an upcoming free concert by Mexican alternative-pop singer Ximena Sariñana, scheduled to take place in Puerto Vallarta on Saturday, July 4. The event is part of the festivities celebrating the World Cup, which will be held across Mexico, the United States and Canada from June 11 to July 19. The concert is integrated into the “Vibra Jalisco” strategy, an initiative bringing entertainment and community activities to various municipalities across the state of Jalisco during the monthlong sports tournament.
Lorena Martínez Ramírez, director of the State Entertainment Agency, made the announcement at a press conference alongside Michelle Fridman, Jalisco’s secretary of tourism. Although the specific venue for the concert was not disclosed, it is expected to take place at one of the “public viewing” spaces being set up across the city for soccer fans to watch the tournament matches.
Sariñana, a Mexico City-born actress, singer and songwriter, rose to stardom as a solo artist with her distinct style of alternative pop and vocal jazz. She has released acclaimed albums including Mediocre, her self-titled Ximena Sariñana(2011), ¿Dónde bailarán las niñas? (2019) and her more introspective, independent project Existencia Kamikaze.
Tourism authorities also announced a series of free concerts in Guadalajara at the Benito Juárez Auditorium and the La Minerva monument. The Guadalajara lineup includes performances by rock band Maná on June 17 and singer Alejandro Fernández on June 25.
