The first all-inclusive resort under the Westin brand in Mexico has officially opened in Puerto Vallarta following a multimillion-dollar renovation that transformed the former The Westin Resort & Spa into The Westin Playa Vallarta, an All-Inclusive Resort.

Located along Bahía de Banderas near Marina Vallarta, the resort introduces a wellness-focused all-inclusive concept that Marriott International officials say reflects growing demand for higher-end, experience-driven travel in Mexico and Latin America.

“The opening of The Westin Playa Vallarta represents a significant milestone for Marriott International and the Westin brand in the Caribbean and Latin America,” said Federico Greppi, president of Marriott International for the Caribbean and Latin America. “As the first all-inclusive Westin resort in Mexico, this property reflects the evolution of the all-inclusive model while remaining true to Westin’s wellness philosophy.”

The property underwent an extensive renovation that included redesigned guest rooms and suites, new adults-only swim-up accommodations, updated restaurants and lounges, expanded wellness areas and renovated event spaces.

The redesigned resort features 281 rooms and suites, including private plunge pool suites, adults-only swim-up junior suites and family-oriented studios with kitchenettes. Guest rooms include the new Westin Heavenly Bed 2.0 and wellness-focused amenities such as yoga mats and aromatherapy features in select suites.

Architecture and interior design were led by Sordo Madaleno Arquitectos, Uribe Krayer and Vida Design Studio, incorporating natural materials, artisan-made décor and landscaping intended to blend with the surrounding tropical environment.

The resort’s culinary program includes 10 dining and mixology concepts centered around a social hub called Gourmet Gallery. Restaurants and bars include the Japanese-inspired Tanto, botanical cocktail lounge Flora Bar, Caribbean and Latin American restaurant Palma, and Call Me Lalo Taquería, which focuses on contemporary Mexican street food.

General Manager Hugo Lecanda said the resort aims to offer travelers a luxury all-inclusive experience centered on wellness and relaxation.

“As more travelers seek elevated experiences that nourish both body and mind, we invite guests to discover a new way to experience Mexico’s Pacific coast,” Lecanda said.

The resort also offers wellness programming including yoga, sound therapy, paddleboarding, kayaking, meditation sessions and guided bike tours. Amenities include two pools, a spa, pickleball and paddle courts, and more than 1,100 square meters of indoor and outdoor event space.

The opening marks another expansion of the all-inclusive luxury market in Puerto Vallarta, one of Mexico’s most popular beach destinations and a growing hub for upscale tourism development.
