Vallarta Pride 2026 generated 63 news placements wtih a value of 12.1 million Pesos in national and international media outlets this year, not counting local Puerto Vallarta press, according to the first advertising-value analysis of the festival’s earned media, released by event organizers.

The national/international figure comes from a broader accounting of all press coverage generated during the festival:

  • Total placements: 157
  • Of those, “Medios locales” (local outlets):
94, valued at 18,000 pesos each — 1.692 million pesos in AVE
  • That leaves 63 placements from national and international outlets, including N+ En Punto, Milenio TV, E! Now Latino, Forbes México and El Universal
  • 13.8 million pesos in total AVE, minus 1.692 million pesos from local coverage, equals 12.1 million pesos in national and international AVE

It is the first year Vallarta Pride has commissioned this kind of media-value analysis, giving organizers a baseline against which to measure future growth.

This year’s edition was also the last for Javier Jiménez as Vallarta Pride’s president, a post he held for eight years before announcing his departure in July. Under his leadership, the festival grew into one of the leading LGBTQ+ Pride celebrations in Mexico and Latin America and brought the Puerto Vallarta name to Pride stages abroad, including a presentation in New York.

Cosme Álvarez, public relations director for Vallarta Pride, tied this year’s results to three years of steady growth in the festival itself.

“Over the past three years, we have successfully grown Vallarta Pride thanks to the support of the media and our sponsors,” Álvarez said. “Each year, we welcome more visitors, offer better programming, and see greater involvement from the local community and activists in building a world-renowned Pride celebration. Most importantly, we have increased the economic impact across the destination by bringing government and the private sector together — working as one team and raising the bar year after year.”

“We are certain that promoting LGBTQ+ tourism, both nationally and internationally, is the right strategy to continue creating jobs and driving economic growth here at home,” he said. “Puerto Vallarta is proving that inclusion is not only a core value — it can also be a powerful engine for economic development.”

Organizers said the coverage reflects a 249% return on investment. Vallarta Pride spent 3.95 million pesos on its public relations and marketing push this year, funded through 1.6 million pesos from the Puerto Vallarta Tourism Board, 1.4 million pesos in private-sector support and 950,000 pesos in sponsor trade agreements, according to the report.

National television carried some of the highest-value placements, led by N+ En Punto, which aired a three-minute, 22-second primetime segment valued at 5.8 million pesos, and Milenio TV, whose evening segment was valued at 1.9 million pesos. The festival’s only placement classified as strictly international in the report came from E! Now Latino.

Other national outlets that covered the festival included Forbes México, El Universal, Milenio’s digital edition, Publimetro México, El Economista, La Razón and Dónde Ir, along with LGBTQ+-focused national publications El Clóset LGBT, Escándala, BoysMx, Pride MX, Dónde Jotear, Lado Pink, ZERO Magazine and Fagazine.

Vallarta Pride ran May 17-24 under the theme “La Nueva Era: ¡Un Pride Muy Mexicano!” Organizers said the festival drew more than 40,000 attendees and contributed to a wave of 240,000 visitors to Puerto Vallarta in May, generating an estimated 2 billion pesos in economic impact for the destination. Domestic tourism lodging revenue in the city hit 1.3 billion pesos in May, its highest total in six years.
