Out & About PV Magazine has named Adán Fernando Ojeda Villa as its new editor, putting him at the helm of the publication’s editorial team as O&APV heads into its 10th season.
Villa comes to the role with a scientist’s eye for detail. He has served as lead author on published academic work, including a paper on student mobility and conservation education that appeared in Revista Monteverdia, and has presented his research to peer audiences at conferences such as the XVII National Congress and IX Latin American Symposium of Ichthyology in La Paz. That experience translating complex research into clear, publishable writing is what O&APV is banking on as Villa steps into the editor’s chair.
Trained as a biologist, Villa is currently pursuing a master’s degree in geophysics at Universidad de Guadalajara’s Centro Universitario de la Costa, where his graduate research examines earthquake engineering and the structural safety of reinforced concrete buildings using seismic records. His earlier research focused on marine biodiversity in Bahía de Banderas, including studies on the dolphinfish’s role in local sport fishing.
He also served as a Mexico Ambassador for Tunza Eco-Generation, an environmental education initiative supported by the United Nations Environment Programme’s program and completed a research stay at the University of Camagüey in Cuba, where he conducted collaborative research on palm biodiversity in Puerto Vallarta and Camagüey. Earlier this year, Villa received the Premio Juventud Renace in the academic and scientific category for work that has reached more than 250 students through classroom teaching, science education and environmental outreach.
“Writing has always been how I make research matter to people outside the lab,” Villa said. “Now I get to bring that same care for clear, honest storytelling to the community I love here in Puerto Vallarta — through the people, the culture and the events that make this such a special place to be out and proud.”

As editor, Villa will oversee editorial content across O&APV’s print and digital platforms as the magazine builds toward a milestone season, with more than 38 Gay+ mixer events already planned across Puerto Vallarta.
“We are thrilled to welcome Adán Villa as our new editor at such an extraordinary moment for O&APV,” said Jerry Jones, publisher of Out & About PV. “As we celebrate our 10th season, Adán’s fresh perspective and dedication to our community will help us continue to grow and tell the stories that matter most to Puerto Vallarta’s LGBTQ+ community.”
Founded in 2017, Out & About Puerto Vallarta launched as a glossy print magazine covering local LGBTQ+ life, entertainment and travel. The bilingual platform now publishes digital content daily, with print editions three times a year. Jones, who previously owned Out & About Nashville, created the publication to spotlight the news and culture shaping one of Mexico’s leading LGBTQ+ destinations.
