Just a half hour drive south of Vallarta, a winding path down Hwy 200 that mostly borders the edge of Banderas Bay, the Vallarta Botanical Gardens is in many ways a breathtaking experience. Bob Price, the curator and founder, and his team have developed and maintained a series of local and international plant-life exhibits—as well as a number of complementary hiking trails and even an opportunity to dip into the waters of the Rio los Horcones—that can easily fill an entire day.
