The Tryst Puerto Vallarta, a new luxury LGBTQ+ hotel in Puerto Vallarta’s Zona Romantica, will receive its first guests on Monday, September 30, 2024, and will be announcing it’s official opening plans soon.
The new hotel will join a few other LGBTQ+ luxury hotels including Almar and Casa Cupula. The Tryst Hotel chain is spearheaded by hospitality entrepreneur Tristan Schukraft, who often spends time in Puerto Vallarta. There is one in Puerto Rico and a planned one on Fire Island.
The 53-room hotel at Pulpito 138 was known as The Abbey, which opened as an adults only gay hotel in 2006. At some point it became the Torre De Oro Hotel. It went up for sale in 2013. In 2017 it was renamed Hotel Amapa (which never opened but underwent extensive renovations).
Schukraft purchased the hotel in early 2024, naming it The Tryst, and has collaborated with the renowned Estudio Esterlina design firm, known for their work on the Four Seasons Tamarindo, to breathe new life into the space. Think minimalist elegance infused with a touch of Mexican flair, creating a modern yet inviting atmosphere. The 55 rooms are a haven for relaxation and connection, fostering a sense of community among guests. With the public opening set for Oct. 26, and based on its website booking, you can grab a queen room for $199 a night. Be sure to check their website and social media to confirm the opening date.
