A new chapter is about to open in the Versalles neighborhood as entrepreneur Kor’ Prieur Caille prepares to launch The Red Door, the neighborhood’s first gay bar and a major milestone for the growing LGBTQ+ presence beyond the city’s traditional nightlife zones.

The bar (located at Hamburgo 156 C, Versalles) will host a soft opening week starting Sunday, March 22 at 7 p.m., followed by a Grand Opening on Friday, March 27, at 7 p.m.
The Red Door will occupy a spot “en plein cœur du quartier,” (“in the heart of the neighborhood”), Kor said, adding that Versalles was the obvious choice after years of working, organizing events and watching the community’s momentum there.
“I had already been creating the ‘Tuesgays in Versalles’ events at The Office two years ago, always on the first Tuesday of the month,” he said. “We were trying to foster this new gayborhood, and I saw that a lot of people were coming—not only from Versalles but from surrounding areas. There was a huge need for a place where the LGBTQ+ community could meet, connect and feel the energy of being among themselves.”
The gay bar will join other gay friendly establishments such as El Rey BBQ, The Office and Whisky Kitchen.
The Red Door shares its name with Kor’s successful mobile mixology company, The Red Door Bar, which will continue to operate. The idea for the catering service came shortly after he arrived in Vallarta, when he realized private events lacked the same cocktail experience found in the city’s top bars.
“That’s when I told myself, ‘There is an opportunity,’” Kor said. “People would love to bring the same service they enjoy at the bar into their homes for their celebrations. It was another step toward eventually opening my own bar.”
The new venue will focus on creating a warm, hyper-local gathering space anchored in hospitality and connection. Kor describes it as a neighborhood bar where everyone is recognized, welcomed and encouraged to feel fully themselves.
“It’s a bar made for meeting,” he said. “You come in, you’re warmly received, you connect with sexy bartenders and servers, you enjoy a refined mixology cocktail in the lounge or on the terrace, and you feel good, free, safe and confident being who you are.”
Hours will center on early-evening socializing, with service daily from 5 p.m to 12 a.m.

For Kor, The Red Door is also a culmination of an international journey. Born in Normandy in 1996, he left France at 19 and lived in Portugal, Italy, Brazil, Belgium and Switzerland before settling in Mexico almost four years ago. He holds a master’s degree in international law, speaks five languages and has traveled to roughly 60 countries.
He first visited Puerto Vallarta after backpacking through Mexico and hearing whispers about a seaside LGBTQ+ haven he had never known existed. “Very few people in Europe know Vallarta,” he said. “People told me, ‘You love Mexico, and you are gay—you should go visit Vallarta.’ And they were right.”
He fell in love with the city—and someone special—and quickly recognized the strong sense of belonging that drew people from across Mexico, North America and the world.
“PV is a place where people come together to create a community where it feels good to live,” he said. “There is a big sense of living together here, and that’s what I love.”
Kor invites the community to step inside The Red Door, the bar he has dreamed of building since arriving in Vallarta.
