Jalisco state emergency management officials are warning residents of possible heavy to severe rainfall across multiple regions this weekend, June 19-21, 2026, due to a combination of atmospheric factors, including Tropical Wave No. 8.

The Jalisco State Civil Protection and Firefighters Unit issued a weather advisory noting that a mid-level cyclonic circulation, an atmospheric trough, high-altitude divergence and a steady influx of moisture will trigger intense storms.

Forecasters expect the storms to develop primarily during the afternoon and evening of Friday, June 19, continuing through the early hours, afternoons and nights of Saturday, June 20, and Sunday, June 21. The storms carry a high probability of severe hail, frequent lightning and strong wind gusts.

Officials urged the public to exercise caution, particularly those attending outdoor activities, sporting events or concerts over the weekend.

Temperatures on Friday are expected to peak near 36 degrees Celsius along the South Coast region before dropping to daytime highs between 24 to 29 degrees Celsius across most of the state on Saturday and Sunday.

Wind gusts exceeding 31 mph (50 km/h) are forecast for the Southeast, South Coast and Altos Norte regions, with the potential to spread to other areas as storms develop.

The heaviest rainfall is projected for the South, Southeast, Sierra de Amula, Sierra Occidental, North, Lagunas, Altos, Valles and Central regions. Significant rainfall is also expected to impact the South Coast and North Coast regions by Sunday.

Civil protection authorities issued the following safety guidelines:

  • During heavy rain: Monitor official updates, avoid crossing rivers, streams or flooded roadways, and do not enter underpasses or roads with standing water.
  • During electrical storms: Seek shelter indoors and avoid standing under trees, near metallic structures or in wide-open fields.
  • During strong winds: Stay away from trees, utility poles, billboards and other structures vulnerable to collapsing.

The agency warned that the weekend weather conditions could lead to localized urban flooding, rising river levels, fallen trees and traffic disruptions across the state.
