Puerto Vallarta municipal authorities are urging residents to take extreme precautions and follow preventive safety measures as the annual rainy season begins. The safety campaign is part of an initiative led by Mayor Luis Ernesto Munguia Gonzalez’s administration to protect local families and minimize safety hazards during severe weather and heavy rains.
City officials advised motorists to drive with caution, avoid crossing flooded areas, and stay updated through official communication channels.
To mitigate the risk of urban flooding, authorities are also asking the public to refrain from littering, which frequently blocks storm drains. Residents are also encouraged to keep important personal documents in sealed waterproof bags and familiarize themselves with the locations of local emergency shelters.

Las month, municipal officials installed Puerto Vallarta’s Civil Protection Council for the 2026 rainy and hurricane season, bringing together emergency responders, public works officials, health agencies, security forces and tourism representatives to coordinate storm preparedness and emergency response plans ahead of the first major storms.
Officials emphasized the importance of staying informed through verified government platforms, such as the Puerto Vallarta Municipal Government’s Facebook page, and reminded the public to report all emergencies immediately to 911.
