Puerto Vallarta’s Rainbow Race returns for a second edition on Sunday, November 10th, and organizers are hoping for more than 1,300 participants, they announced at a press conference held at Pinnacle Resorts on June 27, 2024.
Mtro. Carlos Miyagi Munguía, sports manager of the race, said “the delivery of the second edition is consolidated as the most diverse recreational sports project in the region. This inclusive event goes beyond a race; it’s a celebration of love, self-expression, and respect for human rights.”
Last year’s race saw 1,000 registered participants.
The race is open to the general community of Puerto Vallarta and the surrounding region who can run, jog, or walk in the free female, free male, and free non-binary categories, all for those aged 18 and over.The distances offered are 2 kilometers and 5 kilometers.
The interaction and departure area for participants will be on the esplanade of the Agustín Flores Contreras Sports Unit, also known as the Stadium. This year’s race will take place on Av. Francisco Medina Ascencio starting at 8:00 AM.
“This event brings people together to celebrate sexual diversity, respect for human rights, and free expression. At the same time, it promotes active and healthy lifestyles in the population,” Munguía said.
The goal this year is to reach a record number of participants – 1,300 registrants and over 200 volunteers – and just like last year, he said the Rainbow Race is once again calling on the community to participate and benefit various non-profit organizations working towards a more fair, open, diverse and free society.
