The Rainbow Race is set to return to Puerto Vallarta for its second edition on Sunday, November 10th, 2024, bringing together the community to support a variety of worthy causes. The event, which will take place along Av. Francisco Medina Ascencio, will kick off at 8:00 AM and is expected to surpass last year’s participation numbers, with a goal of reaching over 1,300 participants and involving more than 200 volunteers.
Supporting Local Causes
In a recent press conference held to promote the race, it was announced that this year’s proceeds will benefit two local initiatives. First, funds will go to the Vallarta Gay Plus Community Center, which plays a vital role in supporting the LGBTQ+ community through various programs and services. Additionally, a portion of the funds will support the Focus on Green project, which offers low-cost, in-person English courses to local residents, aiming to enhance opportunities for better jobs in a city where English is often essential.
A Celebration of Diversity
As Mtro. Carlos Miyagi Munguía, sports manager for the Rainbow Race, emphasized, the event is more than just a race. “It’s a celebration of love, self-expression, and respect for human rights. We aim to provide a space where everyone can come together to promote active lifestyles and embrace diversity,” he said.
The Rainbow Race invites everyone from Puerto Vallarta and surrounding areas to join, regardless of whether they prefer to run, jog, or walk. Categories include free female, free male, and free non-binary for participants aged 18 and over, with the option to complete distances of 2 kilometers or 5 kilometers.
Made Possible Through Community Efforts
The success of the Rainbow Race would not be possible without the collaborative efforts of numerous organizations. This year’s event is supported by the Mexican Sports Federation of Diversity, the National Association of LGBTQ+ Sports, Vallarta Pride, the Vallarta LGBT Association, the Puerto Vallarta Tourism Promotion Trust, Todos A.C., and the Municipal Sports Council of Puerto Vallarta. Their involvement helps strengthen the event’s mission of supporting a fairer, more diverse, and inclusive society.

The registration fee is $380 pesos, and all are encouraged to secure their spot early to be part of this inspiring event that unites the community for a great cause.
