Average hotel occupancy more than 85% and almost 200 thousand visitors are expected

The December holidays have already begun and with them the landscape of Puerto Vallarta is beginning to fill with vacationers everywhere. Hotels, beaches, restaurants and shopping centers are increasingly dotted with tourists who want to experience their Christmas celebrations and welcome 2025 in this paradisiacal destination on the Mexican Pacific.

As is tradition, Puerto Vallarta has excellent expectations of tourist influx for the end of the year. In the period from December 16, 2024 to January 6, 2025, an influx of 199,781 visitors is estimated, of which 122,473 would be national and 77,308 foreign.

According to these figures, an average occupancy of 85.2% is expected with peaks above 92% for the end of the year. This translates into 466,303 rooms occupied over the twenty-two days projected.

Considering an average individual expenditure of $9,058 pesos by national tourists and $35,831 pesos by foreign visitors during their stay, it is estimated that the economic impact will be approximately $3,880 million pesos during this period of the end of the year and the beginning of the next.

Another excellent piece of news for Puerto Vallarta is that it continues to climb positions in the preferences of Americans who will travel to international destinations at the end of the year according to figures from Allianz Partners USA, a leading company in the travel insurance sector.

After analyzing more than 2 million round-trip flight itineraries that will depart from United States airports between December 17 and 30, the insurance company revealed that the Jalisco destination went from sixth place worldwide in 2023 to fourth position in 2024, above destinations such as Punta Cana, the Bahamas and Aruba.

“Puerto Vallarta is consolidating itself this winter as one of the favorite destinations for American travelers in search of exceptional experiences. The unique combination of beautiful beaches, rich local culture and unmatched hospitality has made the destination the ideal refuge for those looking to escape the cold in a tropical paradise,” said Luis Villaseñor, of the city’s Tourism Trust, regarding the above.

With more than 50 direct air routes and excellent land connectivity improved this year with the new stretch of highway that shortens distances with the capital of Guadalajara and several cities in Bajío, central and northern Mexico, Puerto Vallarta is set to surpass its own records of visitor influx, hotel occupancy and economic impact established in 2023, thus registering another historic year for the destination.
