The luxury LGBTIQ+ friendly resort Villa Tita (Carretera Costera a Barra de Navidad 840, Amapas) hosted the Sunset Cinema fundraiser on the evening of Wednesday, May 13, 2026, to benefit the Vallarta Gay+ Community Center. The event featured a screening of The Devil Wears Prada and a special appearance by guest actress Tracie Thoms.
Attended by more than 200 people, the evening was hosted by Broadway veteran singer Kevin Anthony. The program included a fashion show and a fierce performance by local drag queen Wendy Warhol as Miranda Priestly, leading into the film screening.
Sunset Cinema was a vibrant celebration of film, fashion, and community. Pedro López, director of the Vallarta Gay+ Community Center, expressed his gratitude to all attendees, president Matt Karimi, and the staff at both the Community Center and Villa Tita for their support in making the event a success.
With two years of service, the Vallarta Gay+ Community Center is a non-profit organization dedicated to the prevention of HIV and other sexually transmitted infections (STIs) within the Puerto Vallarta community. The center manages PrEP and PEP programs, as well as prevention and detection campaigns. Beyond healthcare, it fosters community through activities such as dance, English, and yoga classes, while providing vital support groups for various sectors of the LGBTIQ+ population.
