On the night of Sunday, March 8, 2026, Teatro Vallarta was filled with sequins, spectacular outfits, lip-sync performances, and fun during the 12th edition of the “What A Drag” competition. This annual event raises funds for Casa Esperanza—a shelter for vulnerable women—and this year featured a “Disco Night” theme.
To mark International Women’s Day, eight heterosexual men made their drag debut before an audience of hundreds. Teaming up with professional makeup artists and “drag fairy godmothers,” they presented lip-sync numbers to support the event’s cause.
The 2026 edition was hosted by local singer and comedian Amy Armstrong, who kept the audience laughing throughout the night. The show also featured special performances by artists Ada Vox, Fernandrag, Armando Chakam, and Tonny Kenneth.
The big winner of the night was “Davina Divine,” the drag persona performed by David Sánchez and sponsored by the real estate agency Tropicasa Realty.
According to organizers David Zude and Joanne Jacobs, this edition of “What A Drag” raised over 3.5 million pesos. These funds are vital for the operation of the shelter, which supports women and families who have been victims of domestic violence.
You can relive the highlights of the night through the “What A Drag” livestreams on their Facebook page.
