Tucked just off Olas Altas in the heart of Zona Romántica, One Six One has become a favorite gathering place for locals and visitors looking for expertly crafted cocktails, house music and a sophisticated atmosphere unlike anywhere else in Puerto Vallarta.
The LGBTQ+-owned lounge is celebrating its fifth year in business after opening in 2021 with a vision of bringing a cosmopolitan cocktail lounge experience to the city’s nightlife scene. Inspired by upscale “living room” lounges found in cities such as New York and Guadalajara, the venue combines contemporary design with the warm hospitality that has made Puerto Vallarta one of the world’s top LGBTQ+ destinations.
“One Six One is where Vallarta cool meets New York edge,” explained Brian Kent, one of the owners. “Plush living room vibes with a touch of mischief—curated art, a sculptural tree centerpiece, and dimly lit corners perfect for cocktails and conversation. Sip on craft creations, vibe to live house music, or escape to our two-level rooftop for breezy beats and bold views. With an open-air patio, designer atmosphere, and just the right amount of attitude.”
Inside, guests are welcomed by a dramatic sculptural tree that anchors the central bar, surrounded by curated artwork, plush seating and intimate spaces designed for conversation. An open-air patio and two-level rooftop terrace offer additional places to gather while enjoying Puerto Vallarta’s tropical evenings, accompanied by vocal, deep-house and classical house music from resident and guest DJs.
The bar has earned a loyal following for its handcrafted cocktails, rotating specialty drink menu and attentive service. Whether meeting friends before dinner, unwinding after a day at the beach or making it the centerpiece of an evening out, One Six One offers an atmosphere that is both stylish and welcoming.
The lounge is owned by Bryan Stocks, Roger Allen and Brian Kent, who envisioned a venue that would add something different to Puerto Vallarta’s LGBTQ+ nightlife while creating a space where guests could relax, connect and enjoy world-class music and cocktails. Since opening, One Six One has hosted community events, Pride celebrations and Out & About PV’s Gay+ Mixer, helping establish it as a gathering place for both residents and visitors.
Visitors can also take advantage of Happy Hour daily from 4 to 7 p.m., making it an ideal stop before dinner or before exploring the many restaurants, bars and entertainment venues throughout Zona Romántica.
