Tourism departments from Puerto Vallarta and the neighboring Sierra Occidental region’s “Pueblos Mágicos” (Magical Towns)—San Sebastián del Oeste, Mascota, and Talpa de Allende—unveiled the first edition of the “Visitor’s Map” on Thursday, July 2, 2026 at a press conference. The joint promotional initiative consists of 10,000 printed copies packed with practical information for travelers seeking a multi-destination experience in this region of Jalisco state.
The official launch took place at the River Café restaurant. Attendees included Alejandra Cornejo, tourism promotion director for the Puerto Vallarta City Council; Juan Antonio Salcedo, tourism director for Mascota; Yohaly Monserrat Hernandez, tourism director for San Sebastián del Oeste; José Roberto Zepeda, tourism director for Talpa de Allende; Luis Villaseñor, managing director of the Puerto Vallarta Tourism Trust; and local business owners from the featured destinations.
Cornejo noted that distribution points will include the Guadalajara metropolitan area and Puerto Vallarta, as well as travel expos, fairs, and tourism promotion events.
“With this map, we present a shared vision of the region, allowing us to showcase a wonderful beach destination complemented by the highlands and mountains, alongside the hospitality of our people,” Cornejo said. “Through this, we consolidate a joint promotional strategy that benefits the economy of each municipality and offers travelers diverse experiences in a single trip. Together we are stronger.”
Villaseñor pledged his commitment to securing high-traffic distribution spots for the map, such as the Puerto Vallarta International Airport and the main bus terminal, while also pledging to boost the destinations through promotional campaigns managed by the Tourism Trust.
Cornejo explained that in addition to highlighting key points of interest in Puerto Vallarta and each Magical Town, the map features advertisements from local lodging, transportation, and tourism service providers. She added that future editions aim to include a digital directory to feature more local businesses from each town.
Furthermore, the official emphasized that this marks the first time a regional tourism map has dedicated space to an altruistic cause, providing free advertising for the Puerto Vallarta Altruistic Network, a collective of more than 30 local nonprofit organizations.
Before concluding the event, the tourism directors of San Sebastián, Mascota, and Talpa de Allende highlighted key attractions of their respective municipalities, emphasizing mountain landscapes, religious traditions, mining history, local gastronomy, and year-round festivals.
