Lorenzo Antonio Marín de Dios, has brought a refreshing twist to Puerto Vallarta’s culinary scene with innovative drinks, from classic cocktails to creative fruit-based concoctions with his new store, MR. Exprimido.
MR. Exprimido recently opened at C. Fco. I. Madero 545, Zona Romántica, and this business offers an extensive variety of frozen drinks from the sweet or spicy, including natural smoothies and frappes.
“I use many commercial sweets, such as Mexican products: Oreo, Mazapán, Nutella, tamarind, picafresas, Churros, chocolates, marshmallows, Rompope,” Lorenzo explained. “The list is varied, I am always trying to experiment and innovate with them. I try to make them to the customer’s liking both in flavor and aesthetics, that is why our menu is extensive and will always be growing.”
MR. Exprimido also has classic alcoholic cocktails like mojitos, margaritas, daiquiris, piña coladas, always using fresh and natural ingredients, and taking advantage of Mexican seasonal fruits, such as pitahaya, cucumber, guava, watermelon.
Lorenzo arrived in Puerto Vallarta in November 2022 from his hometown of Tabasco, Mexico. That’s where he opened his first MR. Exprimido, using some money he had saved up for a vacation.
“The idea of starting a small business came up very spontaneously. I wanted a place for all ages, where I could do something unique that appealed to many people,” he explained. “I figured that I could make drinks that use different flavors and with natural fruits. So, I started by making a list of everything I would need, I added them to my shopping cart, I took the time to work on all the costs, the menu, the recipes, and after two weeks I started with MR. Exprimido.
The name, MR. Exprimido, translates to “Mr. squeeze”, and Lorenzo felt like it was a great name in Spanish and English.
“I thought a lot about the name, and then I said: – If almost everything has lemon, orange, fruit juice, some with “lots of milk”, and everything is squeezed, then the name can be MR. EXPRIMIDO (MR. SQUEEZED),” he said with a laugh. “I started to create the logo, playing with the color palette and I liked how it turned out. I knew that here it would be risky, especially for foreign people, to understand the name and so I added FROZEN DRINKS PV. But every time they ask me, I can give the answer to why the name and that’s what makes it fun.”
Realizing that he has lots of competition in Puerto Vallarta, he said that was inspiration and motivation to keep moving forward. With a degree in public accounting, Lorenzo said he wore many hats in the business, from it’s creation, design, costs, purchases, social networks and customer service.
“I consider myself a dreamer because while we sleep, we regenerate energy and when we wake up, we use it to create what we dream and want,” he said. “I am a guy who is ambitious, always learning to live on a roller coaster of emotions and learning life lessons to better myself. I like to be friendly, I really enjoy seeing people smile and enjoying life as if there is no tomorrow, because happiness is always contagious, and I like to always attract those good vibes that we need.”
Lorenzo said he opened the business with the help of many friends an associates, and while the list was too long to mention, he said he was grateful to God, to the universe, and to all the people who always been by my side.
“In terms of service, I always give the customer the best possible attention,” he said. “Finally, last but not least, to my dog ”Taquito” who is always greeting me happily to see me without caring about anything else, just being there for each other.”
You’ll find MR. Exprimido a very welcoming place, with a huge menu of drinks. The bright orange colors, mirroring the colors found in the logo, reflect the bright cheery disposition of Lorenzo as he greets his customers.
“The only important thing is that you want to enjoy a good cocktail, a frappe, a milkshake, a good chat, or play board games,” he explained. “You can come alone, with your friends, family, partner, pet, do not worry, every person with a good heart and palate is always welcome here to be greeted with a smile. We always have everything freshly squeezed and ready for you upon each order.
Everyone is welcome at MR. Exprimido, which is open Monday to Saturday from 3 to 10 p.m.
