Puerto Vallarta’s cultural landscape continues to expand with the launch of the city’s first Theater Show, a multi-day event featuring stage performances, dance, academic conferences, and professional workshops.
The event, scheduled for March 20–29, will feature 10 creative groups showcasing local talent. Organizers said the initiative aims to promote regional performing arts while providing artists with professional development through sessions led by national experts.

The Collective of Scenic Creators of Puerto Vallarta, in collaboration with the Plataforma 322 Cultural Center, organized the showcase to strengthen the destination’s artistic community.
“This exhibition represents an important step for the local artistic community by consolidating a space built by the creators themselves,” said Alberto Sosa, president of the collective.

The schedule features performances every Friday through Sunday during the two-week run. Events will be split between Plataforma 322 and the Cuale Cultural Center auditorium. Each performance has a recovery fee of 50 pesos.
The program also highlights national collaboration, including:
- Pablo Edén Martínez, deputy director of the National Theater Coordination, will lead a session on National Institute of Fine Arts (INBAL) opportunities.
- Carlos López Jiménez, director of culture for Cancun, will join a dialogue on theatrical movements in Mexican coastal destinations.
- Richard Viqueira, of the National System of Artistic Creators, will conduct a workshop on contemporary theater techniques.
Viqueira emphasized that theater serves as a vital tool for strengthening the social fabric and reflecting the “real pulse” of the local scene.
The event concludes on March 27, coinciding with World Theater Day. The closing ceremony will feature Guillermo Covarrubias, head of theater for the Jalisco Ministry of Culture.
Prospective attendees and workshop participants can register via phone or WhatsApp at (322) 350-6861. Full scheduling and play synopses are available on the collective’s social media channels.
