Local dessert shop Lix Homemade Ice Cream is highlighting its scratch-made, small-batch frozen desserts as a unique option for residents and tourists looking to cool down this season.
Operating under the motto “cold and sweet, it’s art you can eat,” the business manufactures artisan ice cream using natural ingredients, locally sourced seasonal fruits and Belgian chocolate. The menu also includes dairy-free alternatives, refreshments and morning coffee.
The enterprise began in 2012 and underwent a leadership change in January 2017 when current owners Kathleen and Todd purchased the company. In 2019, the owners opened a second location and a dedicated production kitchen in the Fluvial Vallarta neighborhood. Every flavor is made in limited quantities without artificial preservatives to maintain quality control and consistency.
A third branch opened in 2020 along the city’s downtown boardwalk, or Malecon. This location expanded the brand’s offerings by serving organic Mexican coffee and artisan chocolates from Cacao Magico alongside traditional ice cream scoops, cones and cups.

Lix currently operates these three distinct branches across the Puerto Vallarta area with varying daily hours:
- Old Town: Located at Basilio Badillo 168 in the Emiliano Zapata neighborhood. It is open daily from noon to 11 p.m.
- Malecon: Located downtown at Morelos 128, Interiors 4 and 8, beneath the Juarez parking garage. It is open daily from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.
- Fluvial: Located at Lago Victoria 141-3 in the Fluvial Vallarta neighborhood. It is open daily from noon to 8 p.m.
