Independence Day in Puerto Vallarta brought an estimated 30,000 people to the Malecon to enjoy entertainment and fireworks as Puerto Vallarta celebrated its 214th Independence Day on Sept. 15, 2024.
Entertainment from the Folk Group Xiutla, comedian Memo Ríos, Komando Mr Band, Arcano, the International Mariachi of Mexico, and Sonora Dinamita for this Independence event’s celebration.
Shortly after 11 p.m., the “Cry of the Grito” was led by interim mayor, Francisco José Martínez Gil, who led the cry “Viva Mexico” from the balcony of the Secretary General at the Presidential Palace, overlooking Morelos and Malecón Street. He was accompanied by his wife and son, along with Brigadier General Jesús Alejandro Adame Cabrera, commander of the 41st Military, and Rear Admiral Juan Antonio Pineda Verdeja, commander of the XII Naval, during this Independence celebration.
The fireworks show celebrating Independence was held over the ocean and lasted approximately 10 minutes.
The holiday, which generates millions of pesos in tourism revenue throughout Mexico, with an anticipated 1.2 million tourists arriving in different hotels throughout the country. The Ministry of Tourism (Sectur) has estimated that Puerto Vallarta has a projected hotel occupancy of 68.8 percent, placing it sixth in popularity in the Country.
