Diversity Week in Puerto Vallarta kicked off Thursday night with drag, electronic music, showtunes and more at a special stage set up next to the gay bar district at Lazaro Cardenas and Ignacio Vallarta.
The Latin Fest show featured both local and international artists and drew several hundred people, despite a light rain and the threat of more summertime showers.
Local performer Moxxila kicked off the evening’s entertainment with an energetic performance of his latest releases. He was quickly followed on stage by Gala Altamar, an ensemble presenting selections from the popular Mentiras musical along with selections from Rocky Horror Picture Show and Cats.
Drag then took center stage as entertainers from RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars, Manila Luzon and Latrice Royal, dazzled the crowd with songs and banter.
The longest set of the evening belonged to Mexican electronica group Maria Daniela y su Sonida Lasser. The crowd danced along as the sun set on a Thursday night on the pacific coast.
The evening concluded with the winner of the second season of Queen of the Universe, Mexico’s own Taiga Brava, taking the stage with DJ Mariana Bo and popular singer Christian Chavez.
