As part of Vallarta Pride 2026 festivities, 2.16 Contemporary art gallery (Constitución 216, Zona Romántica) hosted the opening reception for AMENITIES, an exhibition by Mexican photographer and visual artist Gustavo García-Villa, on the evening of Tuesday, May 19, 2026.
The event was attended by the artist himself, gallery owners Orlando Santamaría and Abrajam Romero, Vallarta Pride Director Javier Jiménez, and a fantastic turnout of locals and visitors alike.
AMENITIES brings together 17 instant photographs, scaled up to large format through digitization, which explore the male body through closeness and intimacy. This marks the first time that García-Villa, originally from La Paz and now based in Mexico City, has exhibited his work in Puerto Vallarta.
According to the artist, “AMENITIES is about the poetics of the body approached from an almost zero-distance perspective—very close-up. I love that we are doing this during Pride Week and I am thrilled to be in this city. The name of the exhibition itself is a nod to the hospitality of this place, which welcomes you with open arms.”
AMENITIES will be on display until June 19 at 2.16 Contemporary. The gallery’s hours are Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., and Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. For more information about the gallery, visit their Facebook page.
