Don’t dare call summer in Vallarta “low season” or you might get stink-eye from the local residents who enjoy the chance to live life at a more leisurely pace thanduring the busy winter season. There is still a treasure of talent and events to be enjoyed at Vallarta entertainment venues.

Mark Rome at The Palm Cabaret says they enjoyed buoyant week-end tourism last year from the USA, so again in 2023 he is planning to offer summer shows from Thursday to Saturday nights. They will close for vacation in August and September and re-open four nights a week in October. You can expect to enjoy Freddy Mercury, Gaga, Beyonce and Elton John tribute shows at the Palm this summer.

Over on Basilio Badillo the entertainment at Nacho Daddy will continue until the summer vacation closure from late July to early September. Otherwise, look forward to many no-cover shows from Tuesday to Saturdays with bands such as Azafran, Texas Embassy and Las Mambas. Wednesday Bingo and Thursday Happy Hour Trivia events are also both scheduled to continue. Watch for details for the grand Nacho Daddy 15th anniversary celebrations on October 31!

Just down the street a few doors Act 2 PV has announced they will close for holidays June 1 to 15. The Starlight Theater will be closed for the entire summer, but the other stages will be rocking with entertainment. The Encore Lounge will feature karaoke nights and the Greatest Show variety program will be back in the Red Room. Watch for new summer shows from local artists like Eli Estrada and Noemi Ustwo and the return of the multi-week talent competition The Voice of Vallarta. Over in the rehearsal hall the casts of The Rocky Horror Picture Show and La Cage aux Folleswill be busy preparing to open 2 new main-stage productions in the fall!

Heading a few blocks west is La Catrina Cantina, where many locals hang out in the summer enjoying popular Salsa Saturday with dance lessons, a live band and various games nights like Left/Right/Centre, and Narco Loteria. Owner Juan Alvarado Gonzalez is excited to be hosting the May 3 to August 16 competition to choose Vallarta’s entry for the Karaoke World Championships. The final to choose Mexico’s representative will be August 27 and the winner will win an all-expenses-paid trip to Panama for the finals. Last year it was Vallarta’s own Brenda Gavino who took 2nd place in the grand finale in Norwa. Catrina Cantina will be open during the summer five night a week, Wednesday to Sunday.

Incanto Vallarta is home to many wonderful theatrical and musical acts in both the theater and piano bar. Owner Tracy Parks has not confirmed his summer schedule but visit www.incantovallarta.com to search opening hours and what will be featured for your summer entertainment pleasure. From Incanto head east up Calle Aquiles Serdán and you will find Awaysis, another great local bar/restaurant hangout with a big stage often filled with music and special event evenings. Owner Gavin Garner plans to try and stay open for their first summer by the grand attraction of moving their “Happy Hour” to the later times of 8 to 11pm. He anticipates they will be open from Tuesday through Sunday nights with karaoke and live bands performing on the big stage.
