Speakeasy Glamour Comes to Puerto Vallarta
Picture it, 1925, the height of the roaring twenties where a vibrant, freewheeling popular culture, including the rise of jazz music, new dance styles, and a rejection of traditional moral standards was at its peak.

Well this maybe 2025, but “The Bourbon Affair” has stepped back in time to harvest the momentum, the class, the charm and the character of days gone by. That evening, stepping into the newly founded “Social Club” felt like we were living in a time of “Speakeasy” bars. Welcomed with a champagne cocktail in a traditional coupe glass, the table lined with gourmet table snacks and the atmosphere was so large, that it felt like any moment we’d awake from a dream.

As we sat at the table, the band, “The Socialites”, began to play. Jazz music of yester years coupled with jazz standards we wanted to hum along to. Short crystal rock glasses, large wine goblets, the dimly lit room were all setting the ambiance for what was to come next.
Taking the stage at The Bourbon Affair was Qya Cristál. Her voice is legendary. Having heard her perform on many different occasions, we knew she can sing. Typically, more in the Diva genre, we were uncertain how that would translate to the swing and jazz of a speakeasy. Her voice was a perfect fit, absolutely brilliant, keeping with the tradition of the style of music while break the norms. Special guests at The Bourbon Affair included Ada Vox, another legend onto her own. Although, having performed on some of the largest, and most televised stages in the world, she knew how to handle the intimacy of the room. In addition, Vallarta legend, Shannon Maracle, took to the mic with her sultry, sexy and unbelievably well controlled voice. She is the type of talented singer that the band followers her. She allows her voice and the words of the music to take her where it wants to go.

This project, was a brain child of Director/ Producer JT Horenstein of Jonny Paradiso Productions who has produced other great shows this season in Puerto Vallarta like “Burlesque”, Evita Loca’s, “Broadway Bender” and director of Nick Rogers “You Raise Me Up”.
Reserved seating, champagne cocktails, an atmosphere that movies are made of coupled with the voices of legends, this truly, It was an affair to remember.
