Life in Puerto Vallarta is quickly returning to normal as businesses are set to reopen on Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2026, with authorities reporting no new security incidents. Additional federal forces have been deployed to reinforce stability across Jalisco. If current conditions hold, state officials said the Security Table will consider lifting the Red Code designation as soon as Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2026.

The announcement was made over the new ¨JaliscoAlerta¨app, which keeps the public informed about urgent events as well as the daily weather forcast. You can find out more about the app here.

State officials also said said in-person classes at all educational levels will resume Wednesday, Feb. 25, following a meeting of the state Security Table. Public transportation service has returned to normal operations. Cabs and Uber car services are also operating. The Puerto Vallarta Airport continues to operate as normal, and airlines are reporting fewer flight cancellations, but please check with your airline before arriving to the airport.

Authorities credited the activation of the state’s “Red Code” security protocol with allowing coordinated action among municipal, state and federal agencies to safeguard residents and the productive sector during recent unrest.

To strengthen security efforts, Mexico’s federal government has sent 2,500 additional soldiers to Jalisco. The troops have been deployed throughout the state, including in Puerto Vallarta and other key areas. In Puerto Vallarta, officials said sufficient personnel have been deployed to ensure the restoration of public transportation, food supplies and services supporting the hotel zone and the broader population. Authorities emphasized that stabilizing the major Pacific tourist destination remains a priority.

Officials said there have been no reports of new incidents and that crews continue clearing highways and removing damaged vehicles left behind during the disturbances.

Authorities called on residents – including parents, business owners, workers, students and public servants – to help restore normalcy in the city and across the state.

The information was released by the Government of Jalisco.
