More than 200 people gathered Wednesday at the Pool Club at Casa Cupula for the 2026 Duckathon, an annual fundraiser benefiting the Vallarta Gay+ Community Center in Puerto Vallarta.
The May 27 event featured hundreds of rubber ducks competing for prizes donated by local businesses, along with food, drinks and live entertainment from performers from The Palm and Coco Cabaret including Chris Lopez, Roy Cruz, Sargento Dan, Nacho Granados, Armando Chakám, and Steven Retchless,
Organizers Matt Karimi, president of the center’s board, and Director Pedro López, thanked attendees for supporting the nonprofit organization and shared updates on recent initiatives, including participation in the National Forum for Combined HIV Prevention and a new partnership with the Jalisco Health Department to receive HIV prevention supplies such as PrEP and PEP directly for community programs.
Some of the event’s sponsors included PVRPV, Tropicasa Realty, Poncho Dávalos Real Estate, Villa Tita, Eventure Productions, The Swedes, Let’s Pho, and Jardín Café Lounge. Through hundreds of rubber ducks and their corresponding prizes, attendees won gift certificates and rewards from establishments such as Bonito Kitchen, Blondies, among others. Additionally, the evening concluded with a live auction featuring vacation stays, artwork, and even more gift certificates.
