An exhibition at the Vallarta Gay+ Community Center on Friday, June 26, showcased the work of eight Puerto Vallarta artists who turned to painting, poetry, music and jewelry making as part of their recovery from addiction, highlighting the transformative power of art and resilience.
The exhibition included pieces by visual artists V-róni-k, Burbuja, Julio César Valencia, Ixchel and Wendy Warhol, as well as jewelry by Eduardo Almanza, poetry by Erik Moya and a performance by singer Paloma. At the beginning of the event, each artist shared their story, explaining how their artistic work was fundamental in overcoming periods of their lives marked by substance and alcohol abuse.
The event saw a strong turnout of the artists’ family and friends, alongside members of the local community. Attendees appreciated the participants’ work—with pieces available for purchase—and enjoyed a complimentary buffet of appetizers and drinks.

The Center offers other services, including HIV prevention strategies like PrEP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis) and PEP (Post-Exposure Prophylaxis) treatments, subject to a medical evaluation.
The non-profit also hosts community activities such as English classes, yoga, dance, and support groups for the trans and seropositive communities. Its facilities are located at Morelos #101 Local 3B, Centro (above the Santander bank), and operates Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
