Every season, we are thrilled to witness the opening of inclusive businesses in Puerto Vallarta’s Romantic Zone—irrefutable proof of the area’s LGBTQ+ vocation—and this spring has been no exception From bold nightlife concepts to a familiar Southern restaurant making its return, these venues have opened their doors and are ready to welcome guests.

Boys PV: Cruising Bar

Puerto Vallarta’s nightlife now has a darker, more industrial edge with the arrival of Boys PV: Cruising Bar, located at the intersection of Ignacio L. Vallarta and Lázaro Cárdenas (below Sauna Spartacus).

The bar is the latest project from local corporate group EuroSpa PV, the team behind LGBTQ+ favorites such as Spartacus Sauna (Puerto Vallarta and Nuevo Vallarta), Spartacus Boutique Hostel, Hamam Turkish Spa and Coco Loco restaurant.

It features an outdoor street-side area, a dance floor with a DJ and a bar, along with its two boldest attributes: private cabins available for rent for intimate encounters, as well as a dark room.

Additionally, the bar captures attention from the outside with a feature never before seen in the area, inspired by cities known for sexual liberation—a display window featuring sexy guys to captivate passersby, in the style of Amsterdam.

The aesthetic of Boys PV incorporates industrial elements, metallic textures and dark tones, drawing inspiration from underground clubs in cities such as Berlin.

Burly Bottom Designs

More than just a shop for apparel, Burly Bottom Designs offers a unique, interactive experience that allows customers to press their own T-shirts and other edgy items on-site with cheeky, naughty designs.

Located inside Plaza Los Mercados on Aquiles Serdán, the shop is a project by gay couple Jordan and Christopher Lee. Originally from Houston, the entrepreneurs moved to Puerto Vallarta in October 2025 to bring unique tees, tanks and cum rags to customers on demand from more than 400 original, hand-drawn designs.

The brand’s origins date back to 2022, when Jordan’s iron-on patch business on Etsy took on a bold new identity. His interest in creating a “dirtier” line led to the birth of Burly Bottom Designs as the concept evolved from patches to more complex designs.

“We are a very sex-positive couple and business, and when we decided to move to Puerto Vallarta, we knew it would be the ideal place for a business like this,” the owners said.

Customers can print and press their own tee, tank or cum rag with guidance from the owners using direct-to-film and sublimation printing. In addition, the shop carries pre-made items including clothing, drawstrings, beach towels and zippered gear pouches, perfect for storing lube, condoms or cock rings.

For Pride season, Burly Bottom Designs puts a special spotlight on their year-round collection of queer celebration designs, with something for the community and allies alike. Stop in, press something fabulous, and take a little piece of Puerto Vallarta pride home with you.

Malas Decisiones (Bad Decisions)

Local entrepreneur and LGBTQ+ community member Carlos Plascencia has opened a new chapter in his career by closing his well-known Aloha Bar and launching a new concept titled “Malas Decisiones.”

Located at the former Aloha Bar site within Plaza Romy in the Romantic Zone, Malas Decisiones offers a more mature and intimate concept.

The idea is inspired by life events we may regret but that carry important lessons. The space is designed for reflection, connection and moving forward, accompanied by music, drinks and food.

The bar offers a full menu of liter-sized cocktails, spirits, shots and non-alcoholic options, as well as innovative flavored raspados with tequila or vodka. Food options include snacks, arrachera and seafood tacos, tostadas and aguachiles.

“Once a month, we organize community workshops. We have an agreement with the Puerto Vallarta College of Psychologists to create non-judgmental spaces for conversation and offer support to community members and customers in need,” Carlos said.

This type of work is not new for Plascencia, who has consistently demonstrated a commitment to the community and also serves as director of the city government’s Office of Sexual Diversity.

Opal Bar PV

Opal Bar PV has arrived with an elegant lounge concept, ideal for conversation or pre-drinks before heading to a high-energy club. It features signature cocktails served in a warm, stylish space with wood accents, a sleek bar, lounge seating, mirrors, screens and ambient lighting.

Located on Ignacio L. Vallarta Street, directly across from Paco’s Ranch, the bar offers a relaxed musical lineup of pop and light house. The bar’s name is tied to its sister business, Joyería Avilés and the opal gemstone, known for its play of colors and symbolism of passion and unity.

“Opal Bar PV reflects exactly these concepts. We want it to be a place where the community meets and stays for a while, enjoying and socializing in a calm environment with great music. We will also occasionally feature drag shows to ensure there’s never a lack of entertainment,” said owner Pedro Avilés.

Whiskey Kitchen

Whiskey Kitchen, the popular comfort-food destination led by chef and owner Gina Rae, closed its Versalles location at the end of March and reopened days later at The Joint Boutique Hotel in the Zona Romántica—one of Puerto Vallarta’s most vibrant dining and nightlife districts.

The new second-floor space features a full bar, expanded seating for up to 80 guests and a private dining area, with additional aesthetic upgrades planned in the coming months.

Whiskey Kitchen is known for bringing a “taste of the South” to Puerto Vallarta, with a menu centered on elevated American comfort food, including fried chicken, homemade biscuits and sausage gravy.

The restaurant originally debuted in the Amapas area several years ago and has since relocated twice as the business evolved. Its most recent home in Versalles helped establish a loyal following among locals and visitors.

This return to the Zona Romántica places the restaurant in a high-traffic tourism corridor, where Rae aims to reach a broader international audience while maintaining its community-driven identity.

The creative minds behind the popular Cheeky Pool Club opened Cheeky Lounge mid-May 2026, just in time to join the Vallarta Pride festivities. This new venue aims to bring the same vibrant tropical energy as its sister property but in a spacious, air-conditioned, and elevated interior setting. Designed to be a premier destination for the LGBTQI+ community and beyond, the lounge presents a welcoming atmosphere for everyone.
