Local art gallery IF6WAS9 Contemporary Art Space has issued a call for photographers to participate in an upcoming exhibition titled “El Día del Silencio” (The Day of Silence).

The exhibition, scheduled to open July 24, 2026, will bring together images related to the events of Sunday, Feb. 22, 2026, when various parts of Puerto Vallarta experienced cartel-led blockades, vehicle arsons, and attacks on convenience stores. Photographers interested in submitting their work have until Monday, June 22, to email their entries to info@if6was9.art.

According to gallery directors, “El Día del Silencio” is “not just a record, it is an attempt to look closely at what pierced us as a society and what we little understood. We are looking for images that question us, offer new perspectives, or find human texture in the midst of uncertainty.”

A jury of photographers, curators, and cultural figures will select up to 50 works for the exhibition. Selected photographers must prepare and frame their own pieces according to specifications provided upon selection, which will be announced June 29. According to the official announcement, the jury will evaluate entries based on documentary value, artistic vision, and technical skill.

Submission Guidelines:

  • Timeline: Images must have been taken on Feb. 22, 2026, or in the immediate days following the event.
  • Eligibility: Photos from all skill levels are accepted — professional, freelance, documentary, and art.
  • Submission Limit: Photographers may submit up to five images.
  • Format: Images must be sent as high-resolution JPEGs (minimum of 3,000 pixels on the long side, 300 dpi).
  • Authenticity: Works must be original and the exclusive property of the person submitting them.
  • Editing Restrictions: Adjustments must be limited to standard photographic corrections, such as exposure, color, contrast, and cropping. The use of generative artificial intelligence editing, AI-assisted manipulation, or compositing of any kind is strictly prohibited.
  • Copyright: Copyright remains with the photographer at all times. By submitting work, photographers grant IF6WAS9 Contemporary Art Space the right to use the images for promotional and documentation purposes related to the exhibition, with proper credit always provided.

Submit your images along with your name, contact information, a brief description of each image (location, time of day if known, and relevant context), and two to three sentences about yourself to:
