From the beaches of Puerto Vallarta to the glitz and glamor of reality TV, local event producer David M. Smith, Jr. is trading paradise for a chance at love and a $10,000 prize on streaming TV show,  ‘For the Love of DILFs’.

As a seasoned event producer and real estate agent, David is no stranger to the spotlight. However, stepping into the reality TV arena was a whole new ballgame. Despite the challenges of navigating a house full of diverse personalities, David embraced the experience with open arms, hoping to find a genuine connection.

For the Love of DILFs’ is a reality show that pairs older men, or ‘daddies,’ with younger men, or ‘himbos.’ The show, hosted by the iconic Stormy Daniels, is known for its dramatic twists, unexpected alliances, and, of course, plenty of drama. David, a charismatic and confident daddy, was eager to showcase his personality and find a love connection on national television.

This is the third season of the show, which is filmed in Bakersfield, California, USA. Over nine episodes (which are available on OUTtv, AppleTV, Prime Video and a few other streaming platforms), you’ll get to meet the DILFS and Himbos, as they participate in challenges and dates.

David said he has been a fan of the show and saw on Instagram in early 2024 that they were casting for the third season.

As one of the younger “daddies” on the show (he turned 40 this past summer), David brings a fresh perspective and a modern approach to dating.

“I sent in a video submission and heard from them in four weeks” he said.

David moved to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, in August, 2021. He was born in New Jersey, but has lived most of his adult life in Manhattan, New York City. He spends the winters in Puerto Vallarta and his summers in Fire Island, New York. While in Puerto Vallarta he also volunteers with Vallarta Pride as the director of sponsorships, giving him a deep connection to the community.

On the show David said he thinks he’ll be portrayed as a typical “Puerto Vallarta/Fire Island” queer.

“I’m the quintessential Puerto Vallarta/Fire Island gay,” he said with a laugh. “You know, the guy who loves a good party, who loves to have fun and live life. I’m not one of the stuffy daddies stuck back in time.”

Host Stormy Daniels acts as the house mother and keeps things moving with her sassy attitude, and is all about creating some daddy drama.

“Stormy was very personable,” he said. “Her role is to help guide us and give us direction in trying to find a genuine connection.”

The personalities with the Himbos range from the “powder puff pink twink, to the spooky goth, so it was a diverse group , ” he explained. Making the challenge of getting to know them in such a short time an interesting and fun experience.

And he added, he was one of the more sex positive daddies on the show, with some of the other daddies being much, well, more conservative.

Reality TV being, well, the reality the producers want you to see, left some interesting impressions with David.

“Overall it was a very positive experience. There were some great connections that I made with the cast and the crew,” he said. “And then there were some contestants who came with a much different objective and agenda.”

But he’s happy he did it, saying “it was a wonderful experience and I’m glad I pushed myself out of my comfort zone. I learned some things about myself, and I learned more about what I’m looking for in a potential partner.”

David wouldn’t share any insight into how the show ends and if he found love. He, like the other contestants, have not seen any of the final edited shows and will be watching the premier on Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2024 just like everyone else.

Tune in on Tuesday, November 26th, 2024, on OUTtv to see David’s journey unfold on “For the Love of DILFs.”
