The Farmacia Guadalajara in Puerto Vallarta’s Romantic Zone, located at the intersection of Insurgentes and Lázaro Cárdenas streets, reopened to the public on the morning of June 10, 2026, after being closed for more than three months while the building underwent extensive reconstruction.
The pharmacy was heavily damaged during a wave of arson attacks on Feb. 22, 2026, when convenience stores and vehicles were set on fire across Puerto Vallarta and other municipalities in Jalisco. Authorities linked the violence to organized crime activity. Local reports said the attacks were carried out in retaliation for the reported killing of Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, by Mexican armed forces.
To mark its reopening, the store displayed colorful flags above its parking area and placed a sign reading “Ya Abrimos” (“Now Open”) at the entrance. Both the exterior and interior retain much of the same appearance, layout and services familiar to regular customers, residents of the Emiliano Zapata neighborhood and visitors alike.
Residents and customers who visited during the first hours of operation expressed enthusiasm about the reopening. The store is one of the few businesses in the area that combines pharmacy services with the sale of groceries and household essentials, making it an important resource for the surrounding community.
