Jalisco Governor Enrique Alfaro Ramírez recently announced that the Health Board has approved new Covid-19 health provisions, including eliminating the need to show vaccination proof to enter bars and to now allow for 100 percent occupancy.

However, the board kept intact the use of face masks in public businesses, because the Covid-19 rate has not decreased enough. They will reevaluate on May 8.

“As a result of the evaluation of the indicators and epidemiological panorama of the COVID-19 pandemic in Jalisco, the Health Board approved this morning new health provisions that will enter into force from tomorrow until May 8 to continue to deal with the disease that has been present worldwide for two years; experts and members of this inter-institutional body agreed that the use of the face mask is maintained in open and closed of outbreaks that persist in other countries of the world, until the presence of a new variant of the coronavirus is ruled out,” the governor’s office announced in a press release.

The Health Board authorized the release of 100 percent of capacity for all events and recreation spaces, considering the low incidence of active cases of COVID-19 and the sustained downward trend in infections and hospitalizations. Likewise, the requirement to present the vaccination card to enter establishments and events was eliminated.

Led by the State Government, the Health Board also approved the removal of all sanitary filters from shops and establishments (tapets, tunnels, and thermometers). Alcohol gel dispensers will be a service on the part of the establishment for the public.

It was also approved that religious holidays may be carried out with prior notice to the Jalisco Ministry of Health (SSJ), so that its health protocols can be reviewed. While all events exceeding 15,000 people must send their request and protocols to the Health Board.

The health authorities urge the population to continue implementing preventive measures to minimize the spread of COVID-19 infections such as: correct use of face masks, avoiding crowds, respecting the social distancing of 1.5 meters between people and the use of alcohol gel.

If you have any symptoms of respiratory disease such as fever, cough, headache and sore throat, do not self-medicate, isolate yourself and request a test (meeting the established criteria), to confirm or rule out the disease.
