Casa Cupula’s pool club was recently awarded Best Gay Pool Club at the Best of Gays Awards. The award highlights Casa Cupula’s two-decade commitment to the LGBTQ+ community in Puerto Vallarta.
“This is an honor and we appreciate everyone who voted for us,” said Marcos Ruiz, marketing director for the hotel and pool club. “We are thankful to the incredible team here who create a welcoming environment.”
Casa Cupula opened in 2002 and was one of the first LGBTQ+ owned hotels in the city. At the time, luxury hotels catering specifically to LGBTQ+ guests were scarce. Inspired, owner Don Pickens created Casa Cupula – a boutique hotel reflecting the sophisticated tastes of this community. Back then, Puerto Vallarta’s LGBTQ+ scene was blossoming, particularly among West Coasters.
The pool club was launched in 2019, and caters to a growing number of LGBTQ+ condo owners seeking a space to connect with others.
With the theme “Every Body is Beautiful”, their pool club offered a solution – a space for connection, celebration, and inclusivity under the Puerto Vallarta sun.
“Their condos offered rooftop pools, but lacked service,” Ruiz said. “Casa Cupula’s pool club offered a solution – a space for connection, and inclusivity.”
The pool club prides itself on openness and inclusivity, with themed parties like “Adam & Steve” and the “NKD Pool Party”.
