From one intimate living room to another, with a few weeks of unavoidable downtime because that happens sometimes when you have live entertainment, the Summer Music Series will continue into its third iteration, starting next Tuesday, 7 pm, August 25, at the Mystic Circle Cafe and Lounge, Naranjo 129 in the Romantic Zone.
This gorgeous, cozy spot has undergone more than a simple renovation, as you will see when the doors open next week.
As of today, Georgia Darehshori is officially retired from continuing the Summer Music Series (she will have extra time now to dance!) At a private party at her apartment last evening, about 35 of us gathered to salute her and watch Kennedy Morgan take up the challenge of wrangling entertainers into a cohesive playlist that will smoothly unfold starting next Tuesday and run weekly through the beginning of the 2026/27 season.
More than a dozen entertainers performed, from self-taught guitarist Dashes Robles to Dabit Azofeifa on accordion, accompanying his lovely partner, Alejandra Matus, as she sang tango songs.
Will Walker and Sargento Dan, with Bing Young on the piano, led a couple of singalongs, as did Nick Rogers, the evening’s host.
Newcomer David Garcia, just 17 years old, showed perfect promise as he serenaded us in Spanish; he will be a force with his charming, lovely vibrato. Thanks to Kennedy Morgan, who heard David sing recently in Bucerias and invited him to join us last night. He and other lesser-known talents in Vallarta will be at the forefront of Mystic Cafe’s entertainment roster this coming season—Kennedy dreams of introducing these wonderful singers to the rest of us.
While the sun set in Banderas Bay, the beautifully presented food slowly disappeared, and the wait staff kept running to refill glasses. Music filled the air as Kim Archer sang while playing guitar; Joi Carter flowed around the room, flirting, singing her heart out, and delighting everyone. Jason Mathis was soulful; Fernanda and Carlos were terrific as they always are.

Angeloo stopped everyone in their tracks, pouring out another Dimash favorite of his, ‘Ikanaide’ in Japanese. Brilliant.
I was so happy to see dear friends, Rob Burton, Jan Dorland, Art and Angela Curley, Rob and Sharon Scherer, Janet Simmonds Doyle, Herschel Weisfeld, new friends from California, Pierre Cutler and Gillian Parrillo, and Stan Wagner with his hubby Ron. All influential in their own way, constantly promoting live music in Puerto Vallarta.
Angeloo summed up the heart of the party, repeating what Georgia had said at the beginning of the evening, ”Music IS love!”
